Our Heritage

Dedicated to preserving the rich history of College Park's African American community, PHOAA seeks to restore key sites like the Price Barber Shop to serve as a museum, showcasing stories of resilience and culture in the "One Square Mile," the moniker coined by Coach Charles Dowdell, pictured.

Aiming to build a lasting legacy, the PHOAA Museum will honor College Park's history by commemorating significant sites and stories of resilience and community pride.

Here, Coach Dowdell shares the history of the beginnings of preserving the College Park "One Square Mile" story at the Brady Recreation Center to former residents and City of College Park officials..
